Game Overview

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is the Seventh installment of the Ace Combat Series, the first for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) system. It was released Oct. 24th, 2006.

Plot
In 2020, the Federal Republic of Aurelia is at war with its neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Leasath. Aurelia was said to have exploited Leasath while they were in the middle of a civil war. The player becomes the leader of the Gryphus Squadron of the Aurelian Air Force. With the rest of the Aurelian Military crushed and in hiding, it is up to the player to retake the nation of Aurelia with the help of liberated allies. For more information, see our article on the
Leasath-Aurelia War.

Multi-Player
Using Ad Hoc, Ace Combat X is capable of using multiplayer to allow up to four players to combat one another in various game modes. It is possible for Ace Combat X to be played online, but, the PSP must be able to access a wireless network to do so. Multiplayer modes include Dog Fight Survival and Shoot Out, Base Attack, Air Superiority, Beacon Battle, Escort Mission and the option to select a random game mode. For more information see our ACX
Multi-Player Information article.

Original Aircraft Tuning
All but one of the six Original Aircraft (fictional aircraft) in Ace Combat X are capable of being modified with extra parts, such as engines, wings, and weapon systems. This allows players to fine tune aircraft to their specifications. This capability is only featured in Ace Combat X . Parts are acquired by completing missions, buying them from the Hangar area or completing missions under certain conditions with a specific aircraft. A somewhat similar feature is used in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation in the form of downloadable paint schemes which change the stats of aircraft. For a list of these parts, see our
ACX Part List article.

Target Viewer
For the first time in the the series, the target viewer device is added to the HUD's top left corner. This allows the player to view which target they are engaging, along with how many point that target is worth. The Target Viewer is reintroduced in Ace Combat 6 and is capable of showing real time video of a target, rather than a general image of it.

Strategic AI System
Ace Combat X takes the multi-mission path concept, introduced in Ace Combat 2 and used in Ace Combat 3 [JP], and modifies it with the 'Strategic AI System'. A player can be presented with up to three missions at a time within the campaign mode. As the player chooses to play one mission, the incompletion of another mission results in a change of how the campaign is played. The player's decision to take on one mission effects the conditions or enemies present in another mission; variants of certain missions are unlocked in this manner. For more information, see our article on the "
Strategic AI System".

Multi-Purpose Gauge
The Multi-Purpose Gauge (MPG) is only used in Ace Combat X. The gauge is often used to show the player how many allied forces are left in an area, how much stress their aircraft is under when carrying a special load out (NTRL) or acts as a timer for certain events.

Language Support
Though the game is only available in an English Audio Track, the subtitles can be changed for players which speak/read the Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Hangul (Korean) languages.

Storyline

-The introduction to the conflict-

A generation has passed since the Great War that engulfed half the northern hemisphere. The civil war and strife that smoldered in each nation had died down, and at last a moment of peace for the world was at sight. All that was lost when Leasath - a small republic in the southern hemisphere that had seemingly overcome its own internal strife - invaded and occupied the neighboring country of Aurelia without a moment's warning.

"This is a symbol of our people's rage," exclaimed Leasath Commander Diego Caspar Navarro, with his fist raised to the sky. "Too long have we endured Aurelia's criminal exploitation of the protracted civil unrest in our land!"

Despite international pressure, Aurelia seems doomed to become a territory of Leasath. To save their country, the Gryphus Squadron, a border defense force unknown to even Aurelian people, springs into action. Emblazoned with the Southern Cross, a symbol of the southern hemisphere, they are set to write a new chapter in military history with a seemingly futile counter strike...

A journalist walks into the wake of battle - a veteran who worked his way up from his days as a freelance cameraman. Alone on the battlefield, he stares at the columns of smoke rising from the Aurelian border, fascinated.

Navarro continues to assert his country's "legitimate right," but as the face of the war changes, the veteran journalist's suspicions about the war deepen. What is this war's real purpose...?

Strategic AI System

-The Tides of War-

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception revolves around the Strategic AI System. The Strategic AI System is similar to that of the Multi-Branch system seen in Ace Combat 03: Electrosphere [JP] and Ace Combat 2. Rather than focus on providing the player with two or more paths of missions to play in the campaign mode, the Strategic AI System focuses on providing the player with missions which change with the player's decisions.

At one point in time, the player can be presented with up to three missions at once. By completing one of these missions, the remaining missions could be effected in various ways. For example, by supporting an allied unit in one area, the enemy may take a base vital to the player's efforts. By losing this base, the player's weapons payload is reduced. Or in another situation, moving to destroy an enemy supplies may lead to a special forces unit being deployed in an area the player eventually moves to next. These changes only occur after a mission is included.

The Strategic AI System allows many of the missions in Ace Combat X to be split into variants. In some cases missions may have two or three varaints and previous locations may become playable with an all new mission. The Strategic AI System is the sole component which broadens Ace Combat X's Campaign to include up to 30 missions.

Multi-Player Information

Ace Combat X uses a PSP's Ad Hoc Capability to wirelessly connect with other PSPs to play Ace Combat X. There is also a way to play Ace Combat X Online by utilizing the XLink Kai Evolution VII PC Program or a similar program, which allows system link enabled games to use a WiFi USB Transmitter, able to transmit in Ad Hoc.

Ace Combat X's Multiplayer also incorporates its own online ranking system. Players start at Airman Basic and work their way up through ranks the more they play online. There are also medals for successfully defending objectives and winning a certain amount times on specific game modes.

Game Modes
Ace Combat X's multiplayer function is capable of supporting 1 v. 1 and 2 v. 2 games in various game modes.
Picture
Dog Fight: Survival: Setup like Dog Fight Shoot Out mode, the goal of this mode is to be the last player flying. Once a player is shot down, they are out of the match until the match restarts.

Dog Fight: Shoot Out: This is a deathmatch or "Battle Royale" which pits all players against one another. The player with the most points at the end of a round wins .

Base Attack: Two teams must protect a heavily defended base while attempting to destroy the opposing team's base defenses in an effort to capture it.

Beacon Battle: This is essentially capture the flag. Two teams fight over a Beacon which must be 'captured' by one side and brought back to their base. The aircraft with a beacon on board loses some mobility, but has the option to eject the beacon. The side which captures the beacon (most beacons) is the winner.

Escort Battle: Two teams will trade off roles as the attacker of defender of various targets. While one side is tasked with defending targets which change depending on the map, the other side is tasked with destroying them as fast as possible.

Technology

* Secret behind the technologies

QUOTE:
All the information is interpreted at it's best. Any incorrect translation might present in the article.

Atmos Ring
The Atmos Ring can be seen clearly in city of Griswall, surrounding its symbolic building, the Gaiuss Tower. It is a synchrotron structure technology developed by Aurelian researchers, officially named Aurelia Superconducting Synchrotron Laboratory (Abbreviation: ASSL). The diameter is approximately 4.6 km, with circumference approximately 14.5 km. It produces energy up to 6.4 TeV (teraelectron volt), making it the world's most prominent and powerful cyclic accelerator. The idea behind this technology was to explore the physical and life sciences by maintaining electricity to support many different areas of research, such as new medicine and material research, development of atomic high-energy physics, and especially Griswall itself. It was also constructed by the Aurelian government for the Muon Catalyst Fusion Reactor experiment.

In the beginning, the construction was meant as a city-defense system concentrated on the beam weapon, utilizing new technologies. However, due to the enormous development expense and political consideration, its completion was halted, remaining stagnant until just before the Leasath Army invaded. After it was occupied, Meson Cannons, a type of artillery weapon, were installed there.

Not only does the ring give a tactical advantage to the city, but it also discloses its wonderful appearance. Before its initial construction, it was to be a set of fortification walls. Its ring view was visibly impaired and to be redesigned. It was designed to protect Old Town of Griswall from river flooding by way of a waterproof gate at the lower part of the ring. It created a unique sight in some areas it closely resembled a medieval fort-esque city view.

COFFIN System
The operating system implemented in the most modern aircraft is designed to infer any positive vital reactions of the pilot, not to depend only on the input by quarters such as button and stick thanks to the system development that gives high-level operation for effective in-flight combat activity. This system is basically intended to provide electronic navigation scheme in order rationally to convey any battle information which is necessary for the pilot during air combat. The glass canopy is abolished, various sensors are loaded onto the fuselage surfaces to stand-in ordinary canopy, and all information projected to all the celestial sphere screens inside the cockpit is adopted. In the cockpit, the pilot’s vision is cut off inside a completely narrow room; that is why it is called the ‘Sky Coffer Bucket’ or ‘Aero Coffin’.

It employ’s a system mode which utilizes the human nervous system that is electronically connected to the system to do all controls through human thought and conditional reflex. The input to the system interface is not only dependent on information intake and body by sensors, but also by gaze input, audio input, etc. In “Life Signal” mode, it helps to prevent blackout and VERTIGO (spatial balance disorientation) by analyzing in-flight body functionality. It also assists the pilot in an instant from any collision and bullet invasion.

Meson Beam Stabilizing Regulator (MBSR)
The meson stabilizing system becomes the important mediation substance of the Meson Cannon because it is considerably difficult to irradiate continuously every time the cannon fires. Because of that, the system is shutting in the large energy proton occurred with the accelerator separately from the adding fast vessel itself in non-neutral plasma state, seeing that the proton beam of the energy is gradually generated and sufficiently becoming large, and making it out of control. This stabilizing regulator which designates “Large Energy Charged Particle Condenser” as the central technology is developed to give the solution.
This technology device was developed by Aurelian researchers for stable work of the muon catalyst fusion reactor, but it was requisitioned by Leasath when it was in the middle of production at the factory of Mount Breeze. It can be installed between Atmos Ring and Meson Cannon and it will reach the point where the Atmos Ring can create a positive adolescent beam and generate a large energy proton beam. The Meson Cannon is not the beam of pulse condition, the extent continual discharge which is visible visual in the cylinder shape becomes possible.

Optical Camouflage
The optical camouflage system has been researched in various methods, and it was successfully applied onto Gleipnir as an active system. It is well known as Retro-reflective Projection Technology (abbreviation: RPT), a technology that takes in the background of the fuselage with the receiving optical element of CCD and the like, converting to image with the luminous organic element, EL, and the like that is laid on the fuselage surface and starts projecting. The surface of the image panel and the prism is covered in the crystallized deflection lens of the ceramics. The optical camouflage is actualized when only the projected side of the fuselage is seen.
The concept is relatively simple, but it reveals another big problem. When it starts projecting the image, the emitter happens to be full, the amount mass of the electricity system generation and the chart surface processing material which produces electric power in order to maintain the lightness are piled up, pushes the gross weight of Gleipnir’s fuselage. Because the scale of the system is large, if the mechanism deviates, it suddenly decreases function chain of the system. That turns out to be the weak point of Gleipnir. In addition, the meta substance (operating the nano-structure like molecular structure in method of optical camouflage, the artificial compound which can adjust electromagnetic quality such as reflection and crookedness of radio wave and light etc.) uses electric magnetic radiation such as visible light which tries to diverse around the object.

Shock Cannon
Although it is called a "cannon," it is not a kind of weapon akin to the shell or linear beam; it is one kind of fuel evaporation weapon, being similar in concept to Shock Wave Ballistic Missile (SWBM), respectively. In order for Gleipnir itself not to be damaged by the explosion, the fuel being evaporated obtains its directivity, and the fuel spraying is done from the part of the disk structure at the bottom of Gleipnir while igniting the meson beam which is disposed to the center of the disk. The meson beam ignition process is performed by an accelerator such as small-sized cyclotron inside Gleipnir, but there is no external output where it continues using the beam itself as weapon. It consumes much electric power while igniting the beam.
Unlike the SWBM that uses horizontal direction to explode its power, Shock Cannon works with possible pinpoint attack. Additionally, compared to SWBM, its fuel is able to change its material and mixture ratio. However, the attacked object can simply invade it with effective small turn.
